Are you ready to choose Jesus?
Why do I need salvation? How do I become Saved? How does this work?
Sin
The Bible uses the word Sin to describe every act or choice of disobedience and rebellion. If we are honest with ourselves we can agree with the Bible that we are all guilty. Romans 3:23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Judgement
As a holy, perfect, righteous God the true, all-powerful Creator of all things must judge evil and sin. The cost of our disobedience is death. But our lives are so broken that a one-time death is not enough to pay the required cost. Eternity in Hell is the only path for those that reject Jesus. On our own we have nothing to offer that can redeem ourselves. Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death...
His free gift
But God is rich in mercy and unwilling that any should be separated from Him. For this reason Jesus Christ came to pay the price for our sin and offer us forgiveness from sin, adoption as Children of God, and eternal life in Heaven. And the best part? It is free. We could not earn it but Jesus offers it freely. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 3:23-24 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Make a Choice for Jesus
All that remains is for you to choose. Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do you believe that He was crucified and resurrected? Do you choose to turn away from your sin (repent) and turn to Him? Do you choose to surrender your life to Him? Do you want Him to be your Lord? Romans 10:9-10 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
Ask
Now it is time to pray. Speak to God as if He is here with you (because He is) and tell Him the choices you have made. Your prayer may be something like this: God, I know I'm a sinner. Please forgive me of my sin. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God that died for my sins and was raised from the dead. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and ask you to be the Lord of my life. Thank you for forgiveness and eternal life that I have in you. In Jesus name, Amen.
What's Next?
It is important for a new Christian to get connected to other Christians. We walk this path together. Find a local church that believes the correct things about Jesus. Begin to read a Bible for yourself. Pray to Jesus everyday. This Christian life is a journey and your adventure has just begun! Congratulations and Welcome Home!
